We have researched in this study on the hologram printing at the following standpoint; 1) The history and application of the printed stereoimage 2) The principle and feature of various types of printed hologram 2. Under the questionnaire study of holographic works, it has been found that hologram of stereotype is more conspicuous than that of plane laminative type. 3. From the results and discussion above, it can be stated that further development of printed hologram in the field of security is expected. When the author went to Drupa'95 on the conference, the work of many holograms on the printed image were observed in the exhibition. (Fig. 5) And there was hologram work in which it was rich even for the shopping in Dusseldorf city. When the author also went to Print 97 of Chicago, the hologram work tended to be equal to Europe. (Fig. 6) Though the application of the hologram on the printed image is compared with Europe and America, it seems to have been retarded in Japan. According to Britannica internet guide, there is the presentation of holographic art created for aesthetic and commercial purposes. This unique and pioneering type of hologram is a breakthrough, as it allowes reproduction of living subjects, computer graphics and virtually anything that can be photographed to become a 3-D hologram with motion. Commercial uses for holographic stereogram are medical imaging, printed brochures (Fig. 7), store front, education and security, etc.. [Postscript] A paper of synthetic holographic images as new media was recently published by Haimo Fritz et al of MIT. The paper discribes that one of the most interesting results is the so-called electro-holograhy or holovideo. The final goal of the research is to develop a holographic video system and holographic hard copy machine.
